| The SGX Plus Surface Generator provides progressive labs around
the world with proven, high-performance cutting technology for
CR39, hi-index, and polycarbonate lenses. Compact and intelligent,
the SGX Plus processes all lenses totally free of elliptical
error. Its computer-controlled precision provides a low-stress
means of generating exact prescription curves. Additionally,
the SGX Plus uses Gerber Coburn's three-axis, dry cut method
of lens generating to ensure superior lens quality, while creating
less mess in the lab. |
| To meet the diverse needs of its growing global
customer base, the SGX Plus now offers an extended processing
range, new 50/60 Hz brushless motor, small diameter lens cribbing,
lower cost auxiliary components, and an all material, longer
life, 9-flute cutter. |
The SGX Plus calculates
the surfacing tool path for the lens and its exact matching lap
at
the touch of a button. The SGX Plus also generates
lenses in sizes up to 90 mm in diameter and 20 mm in thickness, and
easily cuts the flatter curves required by aspheric lenses-thereby
enhancing overall lab versatility. |
Built-in keypad with two-line
LCD display provides a simple user interface and
helpful text messages to guide operators through the
entire process. |
Full size keyboard or
optional bar code wand allows fast, easy data entry. |
New 50/60 Hz brushless motor eliminates
routine brush replacement and maintenance. |
| |
Full job overlap for
batch processing of jobs increases surfacing productivity. |
Safety bevel selection provides automatic chamfering of the lens. |
Compatibility with Gerber
Coburn Innovations™ Software and third party lab layout
computers allow automatic transfer of surfacing data, job
storage, and lab management. |
Hands-free operation allows the operator to perform other tasks in the
lab while the lens is being generated. |
Intuitive design minimizes training time and enables operators with
little knowledge of optics to produce consistently accurate results. |
Three Axis Generating
The SGX Plus reduces total
surfacing time by shortening fining and polishing cycles, and
enabling consistent single-step
fining of most
lens materials. |
Curves for virtually every ophthalmic
prescription are cut without prism
marking, blocking or rings, making it easier for the operator to manage each job, and further reducing the
opportunity for errors. |
Precise 3-axis machining generates
consistently accurate prescription
curves. Exact prescriptions are cut with a New extended lens
and lap curve processing range of +8.00D to -30.00D. |
Improved process controls require fewer
operator decisions, reducing the potential for errors and rejects. |
Lenses are blocked on geometric center,
which simplifies the blocking
process. |
Laps
The SGX quickly cuts hard plastic laps or Gerber Coburn's
disposable foam LapMasters™ for any lens, thereby eliminating the
need to maintain a conventional lap inventory. |
LapMasters can be used
for non-typical curves, which reduces the permanent inventory of hard lap
tools that must be maintained. |
Retrue mode allows labs
to recut lap tools thereby maintaining the overall finish and
curve quality of the lap inventory. |
Cutting Process
Three-axis, three dimensional
contouring tools ensure accuracy and
reliability. The durable fluted precision cutter is specifically
designed for cool, efficient cutting of lenses. New 9 flute All
material cutter gets 1,000* lenses per tool.*
Vortex chiller blows cold air at the
cutter ball during surfacing to regulate the temperature of the cutting chamber,
cool the cutter and remove dust. This allows cleaner, cooler
lens processing, which prolongs tool life and minimizes breakage. |
SPECIALS function prevents edge chipping
when processing progressives, executives, aspherics and knife-edge lenses. |
CR-39, Polycarbonate
Trivex, and Hi-Index lenses can be generated interchangeably.
New small diameter lens cribbing capability
reduces lens diameters and removes thin edge material, minimizing
surfacing time and the potential for chipping. |
Knife edge speed and depth of cut
controls modify the rate of surfacing on thin edged lenses to reduce chipping. |
