Gerber Coburn's award winning
LensmakerXRT  processes lenses
and laps using precision turning
technology for accurate results with
no elliptical error.  The LensmakerXRT
has a high-production capacity of 70
lenses per hour when processing an
average material mix which makes it
ideal for the busiest labs. Throughput
is further increased by employing special
features such as automatic cribbing and
safety beveling.

The LensmakerXRT surfaces polycarbonate, hi-index
and CR39 lenses using the same long-life polycrystalline diamond
cutter.  At a cost of only a half a cent per lens, the cutter is extremely economical.  No tool change or calibration is necessary when processing various lens materials  or matching Gerber Coburn plastic lap tools, thus reducing labor requirements.

The LensmakerXRT has a wide curve range to handle almost every ophthalmic prescription. The cool lathe technology produces lenses with an exceptionally smooth surface of 8 to 10 microns, which allows consistent one-step fining and eliminates the possibility of heat-induced aberrations. The computer control of the LensmakerXRT permits precise positioning of optical centers through computer-controlled prism decentration without prism rings or blocking. The Lensmaker's unparalleled thickness control is especially beneficial when surfacing premium lenses that require thin centers.

The LensmakerXRT can be linked to Gerber Coburn's Innovations™ Lab Software or other lens layout software for automatic transfer of surfacing data and handling of job storage. Job numbers can be entered via a bar code reader or using the alphanumeric keyboard, thus reducing operator input. User-friendly software guides operators through the surfacing process, reducing training times and enabling operators with little knowledge of optics to consistently produce accurate results.

The LensmakerXRT uses automation to increase lens throughput by reducing operator input. Processing steps are eliminated by the use of a built-in probe that automatically measures exact back curve, diameter, edge, and center thickness of a semi-finished lens blank or lap. The LensmakerXRT uses this information to ensure that the correct lens or lap is being processed, further improving production capability and operator safety. In addition, a built-in lap/lens sensing device prevents cutting the lap or lens in the wrong mode.

The LensmakerXRT has built-in diagnostic programs to ensure trouble-free operation. Modem connection to Gerber Coburn field service can provide online troubleshooting if problems do arise. And the modular design offers easy accessibility to components for routine maintenance or repair.
