| The Gerber Coburn SL2 Express with
cut-to-oval capabilities features
the same award-winning precision turning
technology, long-life polycrystalline
diamond cutter, automatic cribbing and
safety beveling, cool lathe processing
and built-in diagnostic programs as the
original version, but now produces at a
faster rate. This second generation SL2
uses advanced tool path software to
optimize the rates and depths of the
machine cuts. The machines new
generating parameters decrease surfacing
time on CR39 and high index lenses
by more than 33%. The bottom line
result is a reduced labor cost per
lens and increased lab capacity. |
 |
 |
The SL2 Express surfaces lenses using a long-life polycrystalline
cutter. No tool change
or calibration is necessary when changing lens materials or when processing matching Gerber Coburn plastic
lap tools, thus reducing labor requirements. And the use of
a single-point cutter produces a lens surface that allows consistent one-step fining. |
|
|
 |
By employing automatic
cribbing and safety beveling, manual adjustments are eliminated.
Cribbed lenses reduce the time needed for fining, polishing and
edging,
as well as enabling the production of
thinner lenses. |
|
|
 |
The SL2 Express has a wide curve range to handle almost every
ophthalmic prescription.
The cool lathe technology produces lenses
with no elliptical error and eliminates the possibility of heat-induced
aberrations. The computer control of the SL2
Express allows for
precise positioning of optical centers and unparalleled thickness
control. |
|
|
 |
XRL Extended Range Lap tools fit directly
into the SL2 Express, eliminating the need for a lap adapter.
Composed of a tough, durable plastic, the XRL tool provides long-lasing
curve accuracy and cuts to the machine's full curve range. |
|
|
 |
The SL2 Express can
link to Gerber Coburn’s Innovations Software or other
lens layout software
for automatic transfer of surfacing data and handling of job storage. Job
numbers can be entered via a bar code reader or using the
alphanumeric keyboard, reducing the operator’s input. User-friendly
software guides operators through the surfacing process, enabling
operators with little knowledge of optics to consistently produce
accurate results. |
|
|
 |
The SL2Express is easy to operate, training is often accomplished in
less than two
hours. Built-in diagnostic programs assure trouble-free
operation and a modem connection to Gerber Coburn field service
can provide on-line troubleshooting if problems do arise. |
