Comprised of two units, the Rae Tracer and patternless edger with integrated blocker, the Sigma II is a simple and compact finishing system. The Sigma II edges all materials: CR/polycarbonate, hi-index, Trivex® and glass. The cost-effective system features soft pin beveling, grooving, chamfering, shape modification, and job memory. The edger has a quick release clamp system for easy chuck removal, a Red Block for frame sizes down to 18 mm, and software that enables faster cycle times.

Standard Features

The Rae tracer's Plus' 3-axis control captures 12,800 points (A and B, as well as frame curve and elevation) for accurate 3-dimensional shapes. This combination of measurements yields highly accurate sizing, decreases breakage, and increases finishing quality.

The Sigma II's Quick Release Clamp System allows different size chucks to be easily removed and installed in the edger. A Red Block is available for frame sizes down to 18mm.

One of the three methods-direct tracer connection, bar code reader, or optional keypad-can be used to call down a job and retrieve a shape. Two probes simultaneously map the contours of the lens' surfaces to determine lens curvature and edge thickness. This ensures proper lens cutout and optimizes both bevel and groove placement.

Automatic bevel selection allows Sigma II to quickly edge most lenses by calculating optimal bevel placement from the furnished data. More difficult or specialty lenses can be controlled using a number of customized bevel options including front curve, percentage, or a simple rimless.

Three groove widths ensure an optimal fit. Sigma II uses a patented grooving design to precisely locate grooves on very thin lenses.

Soft pin beveling accommodates all lens sizes including small diameter lenses down to 18mm. Soft pin beveling eliminates the need for any manual pin beveling, reducing lens handling and decreasing the potential for breakage.

A specially patented, dedicated, adaptable wheel is fully devoted to chamfering. The tilt of the wheel varies according to the shape and camber of the lens to ensure superb quality of the finish.

Automatic maintenance functions-wheel cleaning, self-calibration, and statistics and technical log enable the operator to easily perform routine maintenance without technical assistance.

Sigma II's simple user interface features a customized toolbar, intuitive icons, and color coded messages for effortless operations.
