The Gerber Coburn
CMX50 Finer/Polisher, an affordable and robust solution for
the conventional fining and polishing, delivers exceptionally
accurate lenses by combining optimal processing times with
pressures in accordance with the lab's specified materials.
CMX50 processes via two spindles the entire spectrum of materials
including CR39® ,polycarbonate, hi-index and glass.
Processing lenses with CMX50 begins by choosing a lap from
stock with the correct base and cross curves and applying either
a fining or polishing pad to it. Operators can conveniently
select either a fining or polishing pad from the built-in-pad
dispenser. A removable bar on the dispenser holds approximately
three fining or polishing pad rolls.
|
 |
 |
Fining or polishing is easy with the
CMX50. The operator simply places the lap with appropriate pad
on the lap table and the blocked lens in the compliant adapter.
Jobs can be processed using just the right station, left station
or both simultaneously; the lens clamp selector switch initiates
which station will be used in the process. The foot pedal holds
blocked lenses in the compliant adapter for processing. Operators
simply press the foot pedal to apply compressed dry air to the
adapter, clamping the lens in place as well as for releasing
the lenses from the adapter. The CMX50 can use Gerber standard
pin, AcuBlock and even Loh surface blocks. |

The removable work shelf serves
as a place to hold the job tray and houses the lens and lap
wash pan. While washing the lens under running water is the
preferred method for cleaning slurry off the lens, the lens wash
station is a convenient location for immediately washing the
lens and lap after both the fining and polishing cycles are complete. |

|
 |
The electronics are housed on both
the front and rear panels. The front panel features twelve simple user
operating controls. These large and fully accessible devices
monitor start/stop including emergency stop, lens pressure, slurry
flow, lens clamp, axis, cycle times, and speed functions. The
back side of CMX50 contains slurry, water, and air connections,
electrical and pneumatics enclosures, and the drive motor. |

Controlling water and polish slurry
during fining and polishing can be handled several ways. During
the fining process, labs can use either a direct water hook up,
a simple pump and bucket, or an advanced filtration system such
as the Euro Aquasave. And for the polishing cycle, labs
can use their own central slurry system, a pump and bucket with
chiller, or a more sophisticated system such as the Euro Kleenchill
Model LP8-10. |
