Gerber Coburn announces appointment of Stephen Lovass as President

July 2, 2007 - South Windsor, Conn.- Gerber Coburn announced the appointment of Stephen Lovass as president of the company, effective July 1, 2007.

Lovass joined Gerber Scientific, Inc. in 2001 from FMC Corporation, where he spent five years in a series of senior marketing, strategy, and business-management positions, both in the United States and internationally. He then served as executive director of product management and marketing for Gerber Technology, before joining the company’s Spandex Division in 2004 as group managing director, based in Belgium. He was appointed president of Spandex in 2006. Lovass holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a degree in business commerce from the University of Melbourne in Australia.

According to Marc Giles, president and chief executive officer of Gerber Scientific, Inc., “We are pleased to have Stephen join Gerber Coburn. He has demonstrated outstanding leadership and executive skills during his three-year assignment at Spandex. Stephen assumes his new role at Gerber Coburn at an exciting time as the business just completed a good year and is poised for growth.”

Rod Larson, currently president of Gerber Coburn, will replace Lovass as president of Spandex, the world’s largest distributor of technologies and aftermarket materials to the sign making and display industries, and has been promoted to the position of senior vice president of Gerber Scientific, Inc.

“Rod’s work with Gerber Coburn, while brief, has been impressive. Together with the senior management team, Rod implemented a new strategy, setting the stage for Gerber Coburn to launch several new, innovative products this year, while continuing to enhance customer service. Rod will work closely with Stephen to ensure a smooth and orderly transition,” adds Giles.
