June 5, 2007 - South Windsor, Conn.- Gerber Coburn announced today the appointment of Andy Taylor as European sales manager, replacing Vincent Overdijk who is retiring at the end of July 2007 after 31 years with the company. Effective immediately, Taylor will manage the European based organization and will report directly to Clement Patry, executive director international sales. Vincent has been a key figure within Gerber Coburn, implementing decisive business strategies and building solid customer relationships in Europe and Africa throughout his career,” stated Patry. “We congratulate Vincent on his well-deserved retirement and thank him for his dedicated service to the company. As part of a long-term succession plan, Overdijk recruited and hired Taylor in April 2005 as sales manager for the United Kingdom. Prior to joining Gerber, Taylor had 21 years experience in retail and manufacturing optics, including 5 years as technical manager for the international branch of Grand Vision and 4 years as head of laboratories for Vision Express UK. Patry stated, “Andy has proven to be a great asset to Gerber Coburn. In his new role, he will focus on growth for the company in Europe. I have the utmost confidence that he will achieve this objective.” Paul Towers has been appointed sales executive for the UK and Ireland, and will be reporting to Taylor. Towers has served the optical industry for over 25 years, in both wholesale and retail management. As well as a 12-year career at Vision Express, Towers managed Galaxy Optical and, more recently, worked for Birmingham Optical as business development director for laboratory services.
