March 14, 2007 - South Windsor, Conn.- Gerber Coburn announced announced today the introduction of the Rae Tracer, the latest generation of remote tracers and the newest addition to the company’s broad line of finishing products. “One of the most beneficial features of the Rae Tracer is the ability of the tracing head to incline 15 degrees, allowing an accurate trace of high wraparound frames with 8 or 9 base curves,” states Alex Incera, executive director of marketing, Gerber Coburn. “On the other end of the spectrum, the Rae Tracer accommodates small children’s frames with a B size down to 18 mm and very thin frames from 1.45 mm thick.” The tracer’s 3-axis control captures 12,800 points (A and B, as well as frame curve and elevation) for accurate 3-dimensional shapes. A two-line display gives immediate job and trace feedback, reducing operator error and ensuring trace quality. The tracer is completely compatible with OMA compliant host software systems, making it ideal for use in remote locations. “The Rae Tracer offers a wide variety of communication options, from the most commonly used serial port to Ethernet and USB. Ethernet communication will become increasingly important for the lab in the near future. The Rae Tracer is unique in that it is already positioned to respond to this eventuality. Simply put, the Rae Tracer is ready for the needs of today and for those of tomorrow,” adds Incera. Gerber Coburn provides computer integrated optical lens processing systems. The company designs, produces, markets and supports equipment, software and supplies used in surfacing prescriptions in lens blanks, coating lenses, and machining lenses to fit patient frames.
