Gerber Coburn Announces Winner of the
"Follow the Green to the Gold" Promotion

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn.- Gerber Coburn announced today that Robin Stettner Fiekowsky,(left) manager of Sterling Optical, Newburgh, New York, is the winner of its “Follow the Green to the Gold promotion.” Fiekowsky won Gerber Coburn’s newest lens finishing system, the Kappa SP, valued at $31,000.

Designed to celebrate Vision Expo East in New York City, St. Patrick’s Day weekend, and to thank the optical industry for its support of the company’s lens finishing system, the giveaway used scratch-and-win tickets to determine the winner of the Kappa SP.

According to Clement Patry, director of North American sales, there was only one ticket out of 30,000 printed tickets that had the winning combination for the Kappa SP.

“To determine what they won, Vision Expo East attendees had to bring their tickets to our booth. We showcased the game via a highly visible prize board from which cardholders matched their symbols to prizes. Because no one stepped forward to claim the Kappa SP, we had a special drawing, “Second Chance to Win,” where we selected Ms. Fiekowsky as the Kappa SP winner,” stated Patry.

Ms. Fiekowsky was notified of her winning status the week after Vision Expo East.

“I was absolutely thrilled when I got the good news,” she said. “I entered the drawing because I thought I could really use a patternless edger. I’ve been in the optical business for over 20 years and have seen a lot of changes. With the Kappa SP, I can see the benefits already, and I haven’t even turned the machine on yet. Using the Kappa SP will certainly move edging into the 21st century.”

Explained Patry, “We were excited that Essilor Instruments partnered with us to sponsor this giveaway. This promotion was a great way to show our appreciation to our customers for making Kappa the industry’s most popular lens finishing system.”

The Kappa SP is a compact, computer-controlled lens finishing system consisting of a tracing and blocking unit and an automatic patternless edger, all of which are fully integrated. It features the newest 4-D technology, delivers the latest patented soft pin beveling and grooving options, and offers unparalleled speed and accuracy.
