Designed to help tradeshow attendees gain a more thorough understanding of Gerber Coburn’s recently-introduced Titan industrial edger, the giveaway encouraged OLA visitors to “Separate Fact From Fiction” by using Scotland’s famous Loch Ness monster myth to illustrate the difference between actual products in the marketplace and those only under development.
“Titan is a viable, working system, proving every day that it increases productivity, and improves quality and yields,” stated John Hancock, president, Gerber Coburn Optical Inc. “Supposed competitive systems are thus far nothing more than myth and hype… like the Loch Ness monster. Our Scotland Spree contest was designed to show the industry that Titan is real and available to them today.”
To be eligible for the raffle, visitors to Gerber Coburn’s booth, #415, at OLA had to complete an entry form and present it to an authorized Gerber Coburn representative at some point during the three-day show. All forms received by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2001 were entered into a random drawing with the winner selected at the show’s close.
Cap was notified of his winning status in mid-November and plans to visit Scotland in late May or early June of this year with his wife, Trish.
“I couldn’t believe it when I got the news,” he said. “I’ve never won anything before in my life! And this is the perfect prize for my wife and I because we love to travel. We’ve never visited Scotland, although it’s been at the top of our wish list for a long time. So we’re really looking forward to going, and thank Gerber Coburn for making it possible.”
Said Hancock, “We were very pleased with the response to our Scotland trip giveaway… and to the Titan. It’s obvious that ophthalmic labs recognize and appreciate the Titan’s unique processing and lab management capabilities.”
